Javi Fernandez

Javier Fernandez began his training in Tallahassee, Florida at the Tallahassee Community College with Aurora Hansen and Liz Delancy founders of THE TCC DANCE COMPANY where he performed and choreographed.  
During this time, Mr. Fernandez also began training with Henry Hernandez.  Mr. Hernandez awarded Mr. Fernandez a scholarship with  the Tallahassee Ballet Company, where Mr. Hernandez was employed prior to branching off to start his own company; World Ballet Company in Tallahassee, Florida. 
Mr. Fernandez was accepted to Sante Fe College on a dance scholarship. He studied under the tutelage of Alora Haynes, Teri Kendall, Angela McDoughnon, and Rodney Brown. While studying at Sante Fe College, Mr. Fernandez worked with guest artists, and was selected to perform pieces by Brian Brooks, Jessica Mayhew, Shauna Matlock, as well as faculty of Sante Fe College. 
Mr. Fernandez was offered an opportunity in the Jacksonville area and found work with Marta Jackson School of Dance where he focused on teaching Contemporary/Modern and Jazz.  He re-established a company dance competition team there, giving an opportunity for the students to showcase their abilities in local venues as well as perform in competitions from Gainesville to Jacksonville.  Two pieces Mr. Fernandez choreographed were accepted into the Gala Showcase for the Florida Dance Association consecutively.
He expanded his repertoire in the dance community of Clay County becoming the Director of the dance department of O2B Kids, starting the Fusion Dance Company Fleming Island. He received accolades for his choreography and the team performances for competition, receiving recognition for first, second, and third place overall.  The dance program was listed in Jax4Kids as best dance studio.
He choreographed for high school dance teams, such as Ridgeview and Middleburg High School. They both received recognitions including Choreography, Entertainment, and first place overall at UDA competition and Grand Champions and 1st place overall and in category at Nationals.
As his name became more well known in the dance community, Mr. Fernandez was requested to choreograph for young performers in such programs as NAM Pageant, Ms. World Pageant, and Ms. Cinderella Pageant, and has judged similar such venues locally and statewide.
He has been mentioned in international magazines Noiz regarding his work and choreography with the band “The Cruxshadows” on their tour in Europe and Asia. He has choreographed work with the theatrical shows performed by Shakespeare Company in Tallahassee.
In 2016, Mr. Fernandez started working with the  local theaters. HIs work includes: Legally Blonde, Shrek, West Side Story, Annie, Spamalot, Newsies, Beauty and the Beast and more.  He works with Fleming Island High School’s Musical Theater Department, choreographing their Spring Musical as well as their competitions. 
Students under Mr. Fernandez’s tutelage have been accepted to prestigious institutions such as: ABT, Alvin Ailey, Boston Ballet, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, The Florida Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Lavilla School of the Arts, New York City Ballet, Orlando Ballet and Patel Conservatory. Students have been accepted on Full and Partial Scholarships at Florida School of the Arts, Santa Fe College, Florida State University and Jacksonville University as well as the Universities Dance Teams.
He received his Associate in Arts in Dance from Santa Fe College and was accepted to the BFA dance major program at Jacksonville University on scholarship to continue his education and earn his BFA.
